Food Access Programs
Working toward justice for all, recognizing that access to nutritious food is a basic human right (and a great social connector) . . .
Closed for Victoria Day, Monday, May 18th
Regular Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11:30-2:00pm; Tuesday, 12:00-4:00pm
Welcome Inn’s food bank is a place for families to access food and personal hygiene items. It is also a community gathering place to connect with neighbours, access resources and learn from one another. We are always working toward embedding good food principals into all that we do.
Please bring ID for each member of the household along with proof of address. The food bank can be accessed once per household every 30 days.
Food donations are gratefully accepted all year long.
Thanks to Hamilton Food Share and MAZON Canada for their support. During the holiday season, we are also grateful for the additional support of the McBride, McCallum Fund.
Good Food Box
The Good Food Box is a non-profit fresh fruit and vegetable distribution program lead by Environment Hamilton. For only $15, people receive a box of fresh quality produce once a month. Anyone can sign up for a Good Food Box, and while Welcome Inn is one site to pick-up, there are pick-up locations all over the City! Orders are placed with Compass Community Health Centre (call Andrew Sweetnam 905-523-6611 Ext 3006) and paid for in cash by the second Wednesday of the month. They can be picked up at Welcome Inn on the third Wednesday of the month.
