Steven’s Story

Steve started off as a customer at New Horizons, but he soon became a volunteer! Steve wanted more social interaction with people. At first, Steve was very shy and didn’t converse much with the other volunteers, but it wasn’t long before he was cracking inside jokes and providing fashion tips to customers and volunteers.
Steve attended our recent volunteer appreciation event and learned about the other programs that Welcome Inn provides. He has taken it upon himself to become a fundraiser for us. With some research, he has found that, if he performs a speech at particular meeting groups within Hamilton, he can win prize money that goes towards the charity of his liking. With over a month of preparation, he is ready to start his public speaking career to raise money for the welcome Inn! Steve has also started to volunteer with our other community programs.
